Job Purpose

This position is responsible for the smooth functioning and upkeep of the IT infrastructure (including software and hardware) at RE

 

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Provisioning and Management

• Manage following through the partner to whom the support and operations are outsourced
• Manage the private cloud hosted in a Co-Location on a virtual platform as well as in other geographically separated locations. Management includes availability, capacity management & planning, regular monitoring, alerts, automated actions and preventive maintenance, technology refresh and consolidation
• Managing cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Management includes monitoring, upkeep and provisioning cloud for various applications. Should have good knowledge of all cloud components to ensure cost effective cloud provisioning
• Regular review of monitoring KPIs, action defined and fine tuning based on business needs and applications
• Regular reviews with the outsourced operation management team on capacity management, planning, timely augmentation, reclaim, clean up to ensure timely availability of resources for business
• Incident management during business critical outages (Severity 1/2) to guide the team, monitor the situation, take appropriate actions to ensure quick restoration of normal operations
• Regular review of backup and restoration. Ensuring regular successful backup of business critical applications. Periodic review of backup policies and restoration testing
• Upkeep and monitoring of disaster recovery (DR) sites. Periodic DR drills to be conducted/administered for ensuring SOPs/SLAs are in line with business requirements
• Management of identity and access management platform. Regular review of privileged access, role based access to relevant members of IT and business teams
• Security of the infrastructure (servers, storage, backup, load balancers), regular patching, management of DMZ, access review, appropriate VPN access
• Active directory management, group policy management
• Monitoring of license inventory – OS (Windows, RHEL, Suse), DB (Oracle, SQL), Active Directory (AD) CALs, VMware, backup tool etc and compliance by doing periodic necessary cleanup and consolidation
• Review weekly, monthly reports with the operations manager on availability, capacity, backup and other operations. Prepare and present monthly operations status to management including Head of Infrastructure and CIO
• Regular reviews of IT practices, policies & SOPs in the area of DC and cloud management for necessary changes as and when required
• Infrastructure provisioning for cross functional team and business initiatives
• Designing and implementing cloud infrastructure based on current and future requirements, and scaling the infrastructure based on evolving needs
• Work with the cross functional teams to understand the infrastructure requirements, application architecture, future roadmap to make informed decisions to provision the infrastructure either on Premise or on appropriate cloud platform
• Work with cross functional teams to explore the possibility of moving on premise workload to cloud in a cost effective manner to ensure scalability, high availability, security and ease of management
• Manage and maintain public Domain Name System (DNS) and (Content Delivery Network (CDN) platform for corporate websites
• Provisioning & management of bulk SMS and email platforms for application teams

 

Project management, team management and vendor management

• Prepare long term strategies and roadmap for your area of work
• Propose and manage projects in the area of Infrastructure management and provisioning to ensure availability, operational efficiency, new technology adoption for business goals and security
• Draft & float the request for proposal (RFP) including the requirement, expectations and wishlist from a platform/solution
• Evaluate the proposal from technical and commercial aspects and prepare comparison for proof of concepts (PoCs) and necessary decision making post PoCs
• Do the project management of the projects for timely execution, achieving the technical & business benefit within agreed cost
• Prepare project plans, coordinate with cross functional project team members, regular updates on the project health in terms of cost, benefit and time, regular governance meetings with vendor, partner, team and steering committee
• Mentor and groom the team, set the KRAs and KPIs, monitor those regularly and provide feedback to the team. Keep the team motivated with appropriate rewards and recognition. Suggest and encourage them to attend training for regular skill enhancement

Work Experience

Education

Bachelors in Engineering / Technology or Master of Computer Application

 

Experience

• Have 6-8 years of total working experience and at least 3-4 years of experience in automotive manufacturing plant environment
• Experience in Managing Data Centre – both captive and outsourced
• Skilled in reviewing project progress/performance and deliverables on time and within budget
