Job Purpose

This key focus of this role is to deliver accurate measurement and meaningful interpretation of communication so as to increase ‘marketing effectiveness’

 

Job Context & Challenges

Media touchpoint complexity has transformed in the last decade. Apart from television (that continues to be critical), digital media as part of the marketing mix has grown significantly. This is both with and without digital commerce. 

In Colgate, communication is the most important marketing lever and we are continuously working on improving communication effectiveness. The key challenges we need to address are

  • Feedback to marketing and agency on advertising performance
  • Integrated point of view between TV ad performance and digital (eg You tube BLS)
  • Long term vs Short term (brand equity vs MMM)

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Drive advertising performance review system   

  • Lead engagement with tracking agency to drive actionable insights on active campaigns 
  • Drive data backed pov on campaign performance (success or otherwise) as well as decisions leading to change (non performance or fatigue)
  • Integrated pov across multiple sources (BLS, tracking, MMM…etc) on the same campaign. Lead attribution work for long term brand equity and short term sales
  • Lead learning experiments in attribution learning through the funnel- Awareness- Consideration and Purchase

 

Lead agile feedback mechanism early in coms development cycle

  • Build a pre testing/ early feedback discipline through insightful yet agile ways. Ideal is to have script testing systems

 

Effectiveness in E-Commerce

  • Digital commerce communication effectiveness and ROI evaluation

 

Learning organisation

  • Periodic meta learning’s on communication effectiveness- building guidelines and best practices

 

Experience:

  •  
  • 10 Years of strong experience in communication tracking or testing either in TV or digital

  • Personal Influence:  Strong communication skills. Builds credibility through expertise and personal presence.
  • Cross Organisational relationships: Builds collaborative relationships globally and cross functionally to influence strategy and decisions

 

Functional Competencies

 

  •  
  • Thorough understanding of how television advertising works, its measurement and interpretations. Should be able to articulate many use cases of ‘what if’ the data shows this… what should be inference and business action
  • Good understanding of what is the role of digital measurements (YT/ FB BLSs…, and how to interpret wrt television/ offline tracking)
  • What to check when (balance rigour and agility) in pre testing.
